Wow where to start! I thoroughly enjoyed photographing Ann & Nic's big day, a truly personal wedding day exactly how they wanted it to be. The day had so many superb elements, from the lego theme, the relaxed feel, outdoor speeches, personalised converse trainers, Batman cufflinks, scalextric and other games, and the great Cumbrian scenery.
It's important to remember that your wedding day is about YOU, so do it how you want to..... Traditional weddings are fantastic if that's what you want for your big day, but if it's not your style then don't be afraid to break the mould a little :)
Ann & Nic very kindly answered these questions for the blog:
Venue - Patterdale Hall Activity Centre
Dress - The dress was second-hand (not sure of the designer)
Accessories - The heels were Kurt Geiger, The Converse were special ordered.
Suits - The men's suits were from Young's at Debenhams
Which of your suppliers would you recommend? - Hair and Make-up by Kate at Ruby Rouge Makeup
Honeymoon - We had a mini-moon in Portugal for the week after the wedding because
we just needed to sit for a while and not think! We are going to New
York for Christmas this year as a proper honeymoon.
Favourite memory from the day - Ann: I feel like it went so quickly that my favourite memories
are just the things that stuck with me. Robin (Brides escort) and I
doing the CanCan outside the marquee before the ceremony, my nephew Jack
doing his reading and stealing the show, watching everyone playing the
games.
Nic: about 4pm in the
afternoon, standing with Ann at the top of the garden, watching everyone
chilling out on the lawn and playing with the kids.
Advice to other couples - Be true to yourself and what you want from your wedding, decide in
advance those things that are really important to you as a couple those
things you won't compromise on. Weddings can get expensive, but if you
know in advance your "must haves" you know which bits you are willing to
compromise on! (The same can be said for those overly helpful people
you'll meet!)
