Pauline & Michael's Wedding

As I've been working as a wedding photographer in the north east since 2007 now (prior to that we were over in the lakes), I don't often get to shoot at venues I haven't worked at previously. Pauline & Michael were married at The Mansion House in Jesmond, a brand new venue for me! Some people may worry that this is a disadvantage, but I make sure I'm familiar with a new venue before the wedding day, and it's also great for inspiration.

We had a typical British summer (again!) this year, with a bit of sunshine but plenty of rain chucked into the balance too. Luckily we had a dry day for Pauline & Michael's big day and were able to make the most of the grounds.

I like to be as unobtrosive as possible on a wedding day, blending into the background to capture the day so that everyone can relax and enjoy themselves without being aware of me, and Pauline's comment below is great! :)

Pauline very kindly answered these questions for the blog:

Wedding date - 20th September 2014

Venue - The Mansion House, Jesmond

Dress - The shop I purchased my dress from was The Wedding Studio in Blyth, the designer was Alfred Angelo.

Accessories - My earrings were from House of Fraser  (Lilli & Koe) in the Metro Centre and the necklace was my father's grandmother's.

Suits - The mens suits were from Blades, Ponteland.

Which of your suppliers would you recommend? - I would recommend The Wedding Studio, good range of dresses and once a year they have an offer on to celebrate their opening anniversary.

Honeymoon - We celebrated our honeymoon with one week in Phuket, Thailand - Indigo Pearl hotel and Kuredu resort in the Maldives for the second week such a fantastic time we didn't want to come home.

Favourite memory from the day - We planned the whole day ourselves and it went to plan, the whole day was so memorable in so many different ways.  The photographer (you!!) was like a ghost you never noticed him taking the photos.  The staff at the Mansion House were so helpful and made the day run smoothly.

Advice to other couples - Some things you can do yourself cheaper, we did our candy bar, seating plan, welcome plaque.  Do your research, go to wedding fairs where you can meet other suppliers.  We met the jeweller who made our rings and the lady who made our invites and favour cards as we made donations to charity and provided our guests with charity pins.
