Just getting caught up with the blog..... I've got some great weddings to show you over the next few weeks :D The end of the year always gets a little hectic with editing, accounts, albums, and also our Christmas shopping of course ;-)
Gemma & James were married at the end of August at St. Mary's Church in Whickham, with their reception at Slaley Hall. Gemma & James also booked my wife Alison as a second photographer which was great and meant we could be in two places at once, for example Alison photographed the bridal preps while I went to photograph the guys. We used to do all weddings together prior to our little boy Matthew arriving, now Alison can be booked on request.
Anyway, back to the day! We were blessed with superb weather and the day ran smoothly from start to finish. The grounds at Slaley are superb so it was great to be able to make the most of them and even have a walk down to the Japanese garden.
A first for me to photograph on a wedding day too - an ice bucket challenge after the meal! (luckily not for me! I've already done one at home....!)
Gemma very kindly answered these questions for the blog:
Dress - My dress, along with the bridesmaid dresses, was purchased from Darcy's
in Morpeth. The shop came recommended by my sister-in-law and I couldn't
have been happier with their range of dresses as well as the service!
The dress is a paloma blanca, as was the belt which was added on after.
Accessories - My jewellery and hairpiece were all from Debenhams. My shoes were from NEXT.
Suits - Suits were from Slaters as the bridal party were spread across the country so they could go to their local store.
Which of your suppliers would you recommend? - I would highly recommend Darcy's bridal shop as well as Slaley Hall for a
venue. My hairdressers was Rachel from Salon 21 and she was absolutely
fantastic. She did 8 of us in the morning, she did an amazing job and
everyone was really happy with their hair. I would also recommend AB Wedding Cars for their professional service and Borderland as a band
kept the dancefloor full all night and left everyone begging them to do
more songs! and of course yourself as photographer.
Honeymoon - We had a 3 night, minimoon to Budapest which is the most beautiful city.
We are going to Thailand for 2 weeks over Christmas and New year for
our main honeymoon.
Favourite memory from the day - Our favourite part of the day was just having all of our family and
friends together in one place which was overwhelming when we entered the
wedding breakfast room to them all cheering and going crazy for us.
Advice to other couples - Don't rush planning, take the time you need to save for the wedding of
your dreams! Yes it may only be one day but it is the best day of your
life and the memories you make are priceless.
