We started our wedding photography business when we lived over in Cumbria, we moved to Durham in 2007, but love getting back over to the lakes for weddings as the scenery is superb! Sally & Andrew held their reception at the Roundthorn Country House Hotel, Penrith, which is a venue we've photographed at previously.
A great way to get your guests mingling is to have a ceilidh - it's amazing how many people will get involved and enjoy themselves. Definitely something we'd recommend if you're a bit stuck on what to have for your evening entertainment! One of our favourite photos from the day is when Sally's Dad was tying his shoelace mid-dance - the expressions are brilliant!
Sally very kindly answered these questions for the blog:
Wedding date - 11th May 2013
Venue - St. Andrew's Church, Dacre & the Roundthorn Country House Hotel, Penrith
Dress - My dress was from Society Brides in Liverpool, designed by Mark Lesley
Accessories - Jewellery from Beaverbrooks, shoes from Debenhams
Suits - The men's suits were from Austin Reed
Which of your suppliers would you recommend? - All our suppliers were fantastic - the team at the Roundthorn Country House Hotel did a great job of keeping everything running smoothly; the
flowers from Coach House Flowers in Penrith were gorgeous (and they did a
lovely job on the arch at the church); Angie Frost from the Cutting
Room at Pooley Bridge worked magic with the hairstyles for the bridal
party; the cake was from Eden House of Cakes in Penrith and was
delicious. The vintage Rolls was from Cars of Distinction at Langwathby,
Saunders' Chocolates provided the mini chocolate frog favours and our
rings were made by Rob Girling at Selini in Mawdesley. Also Georgia
Shorrock and the ceilidh band, who really made the evening go with
a swing. Of course it goes without saying that we had the best photographers we could have hoped for - Simon Hudspeth Photography!
Honeymoon - We went to Rome for a few days after the wedding, and are saving for a bigger trip (possibly Canada) next year
Favourite memory from the day - Difficult to pick just one - seeing each other for the first time at the
church and ceilidhing the night away stand out, but there are so many
others!
Advice to other couples - Let the experts get on with it - we gave our suppliers a general idea of
what we wanted and everything was perfect. Picking a venue where the
team knows exactly what they're doing also helped!
