Rebecca & Ian's Wedding

The Eskdale Gatehouse is a superb venue over on the west coast of the Lake District in the Eskdale valley. It's close to the village Alison grew up in, and we'd actually been to a friend's wedding there a few years ago. When Rebecca & Ian contacted us to see if we were available for their wedding day we jumped at the chance as it's such a beautiful venue.

When the wedding day came we arrived at Rebecca's parents house for the bridal preparation photos, and everybody was on schedule, calm & relaxed. Alison photographed Rebecca getting laced into her stunning dress, and then we headed to St. Mary's RC Church in Cleator for the wedding service. Despite having driven past the church on many occasions, we hadn't realised quite how large and stunning the interior of the church would be. We were also blessed with a lovely warm day, however it was very windy which made the confetti shots a little tricky as it blew away so quickly!

We then headed down to The Gatehouse for the wedding reception. Rebecca & Ian were keen to walk down to the lake for a few photographs which was brilliant, and it also allowed us to escape the blustery wind for a while.

We photographed the speeches, and then headed back out for a few more photos of the happy couple before we headed off. This was the last wedding to be held at The Gatehouse as they're planning on concentrating on corporate events in the future, which is a shame as it's such a beautiful part of Cumbria.

These are a few of our favourite images from the day:

The final touches....

Rebecca's mum Ann making sure her hat was perfect after being outside in the blustery April weather

Ian turns to watch Rebecca & dad Michael walk down the aisle - and it was a long aisle!

The church looked amazing with flowers on each pillar

We love the way the light caught Rebecca's veil - a completely unposed shot captured as we walked back up to the house

The light caught the leaves perfectly, a beautiful quiet moment between the happy couple

Speeches wouldn't be complete without a "head in hands" groom moment - love the full on belly laugh from Ian's dad Peter!
